You're on this page so are obviously seriously thinking about getting some coaching. A few tips before you start ...
If you are considering hiring a life coach, think about what you want from coaching. Coaching is still an unregulated profession and life coaches all have a particular style and preference of working so it is important that you feel comfortable with the person you are going to work with. It's always good to ask around in case any of your friends or colleagues can give you recommendations but if not, check the internet, the various directories such as 'Find a Life Coach' and 'Life Coach Directory' and ask lots of questions. Be wise, don't base your decision on price alone.
It is useful to have a think about what you want to get from your coaching, specifically how you will actually know it has been successful. Here are a few questions just to get you started.
- What do I want to achieve from coaching?
- How will I know the coaching has been successful?
- What will I need to see, feel, hear to know it has been successful?
- When do I want to achieve it by?
- What is it about now that feels right for coaching?
- How much time can I commit to my coaching?
Don't be surprised if when you enquire of a coach they ask you some of these questions. They will want to help you and to have an idea how much you have thought about it and whether you feel ready for coaching at this time. Whilst coaching is a wonderful investment in you, it is a commitment both timewise and financially and a good coach will be honest with you if they think you will not benefit at this time.
Of course you will want to know a bit about the coach and their terms and prices, trust your instincts. If it feels right go for it, if you're not sure then don't feel pressured. I strongly believe in intuition so go with your gut, it's a bit like that old saying 'when the student is ready, the teacher will appear'.
Good luck with whatever you decide and I trust if we are meant to work together then it will happen.
My style of coaching
Whilst coaching is not therapy and obviously it is not appropriate to delve into the past, it can still uncover old ideas and feelings and bring challenges to the fore, it is up to the client to decide if they are ready to take these challenges. I tend to find that the sort of people who come to me have issues that can be quite complex, they may not know what they want but know something needs to change. I can create a very safe place for that to happen and often powerful shifts in thinking and experience can occur. In view of this, I believe it is most beneficial for us to commit to work together for at least 2 - 3 months in order for that safety and trust to be established and to get the most out of the process.
Initial consultation by phone (approx 15-20 minutes)
Call me to find out more, clarify any questions and find out if coaching is for you, with absolutely no obligation to commit to anything more. It is very important that you feel comfortable with your coach and this is an opportunity for us both to see if we would like to work with each other. It is also a time to check if coaching is right for you and I will give you my honest opinion if I don't think it is something you would benefit from or if a different sort of service would be more appropriate for you.
'Discover your inspired self'
Stuck - know you want to do something different, but don't know where to start?
If the issue is that you don't really know what you want, but you feel there is something more to life then this package is an opportunity to really explore and expand your mind. With exercises to get you in touch with your inner dreams, to go beyond what you "should" be doing, to play with ideas without committing yourself and discover strengths and qualities you didn't know you had. You may rediscover forgotten dreams or feel amazement and excitement bubbling up inside you as you get insights into what you really want to do. The knowing is half of the journey!
'Reach for your goals and keep yourself on track'
You may have an idea what you want but somehow you're not getting there as quickly as you'd like. Coaching will give you the time to really focus on your goal and make positive steps to get where you want to go, there will be opportunities to challenge yourself, uncover your limiting beliefs and fears and take the steps you need to get to where you want to go.
These packages can be used flexibly and if you don't need all the sessions in one go, you can carry them over for another time. Sometimes people book a block and then have the odd one as a top up every 2 to 3 months or so. You can have sessions weekly or fortnightly.
Practicalities
Personal coaching sessions can be done over the phone, skype or face to face (or combination of approaches) either weekly or fortnightly. For telephone coaching the client contacts the coach at the agreed time and the session usually lasts 1 hour. For face to face coaching the client and coach will meet at the agreed venue and the session usually lasts 1 hour. I will ask you to sign some terms of agreement and request payment in advance.
Prices
The coaching services are tailored to suit client's differing needs and budgets and there is the option of some flexibility regarding payment terms.
